KIN

TEENS... Do you need someone to talk to about problems at school or home?

PARENTS... Do you have a child who threatens to run away? Do you feel like you have tried everything and nothing helps?

How KIN Helps

  • Telephone Hotline: 24 hours a day 7 days a week crisis line staffed by people who care and respond in a helpful way to youth in crisis. 1.800.622.9120
  • Tutoring and Mentoring Program: We assist youth who have a difficult time with school work and facilitate a good study atmosphere.
  • Voluntary Intake & Release: All participation in the program is voluntary. No action is taken without the full knowledge and consent of the youth in crisis. Youth are free to discontinue the service at any time.
  • Crisis Intervention: Family mediation helps facilitate a productive resolution to the problems of the youth and family in crisis.
  • Emergency Shelter: Provided through appropriate agencies.
  • Weekly Community Service Projects: This gives the youth a chance to do things for other people facilitating better self esteem and learning to work with others. This is also a good opportunity for parents to volunteer time to work with other youth.
  • Information & Referral: We provide client advocacy and service linkage with local public and private social and health service providers and with other runaway programs in Wisconsin.
  • After Care & Follow-Up: Periodic follow-up contacts with youth and parents ensure that on-going needs are addressed.
